Drew Smith - Smoke And Mirrors
You gotta respect the ingenuity by this Canadian. Using the Internet to its fullest glory!
To celebrate the release of my album I decided to ‘outsource’ my video to Bangalore, India. I found a virtual assistant from a quick google search and then sent them my song, “Smoke and Mirrors”. By chance, the director ended up being a dance choreographer! After a couple of emails back and forth (plus a few early morning wake-up calls) I found this video in my inbox… Many thanks to Asha Sarella and Vishwas Avathi and Asha’s Dance School. I can’t thank you enough!

Wayfaring Stranger by Nick Paisley
A cover of an old gospel song I recorded yesterday. I’ve always really loved it, and it has been done by so many great musicians.
It also gave me a chance to experiment with my voice, and the different ways I can strain the vocal chords. I like the result, and hope everyone who listens likes it too.
Enjoy!
TUESDAY RECOMMENDATION: What you are looking at are cheeseburger cupcakes made with vanilla cake buns and chocolate cake burgers w/ buttercream fixings. HAPPY BIRTHDAY randicakes! Hope you’re eating some of your good treats.
Volcano Choir - “Husks And Shells” is a really good song, especially in the winter and when there is snow on the ground. I actually associate the whole album ‘Unmap’ with winter. School’s were cancelled today because of late snow but it was followed by hours of rain. I think there’s a storm coming tonight so I might be off again tomorrow, but regardless, this song should be listened to.
This is some excellent material, this guy has a very firm grasp on his composition.
Worth a listen by any good listen..er
Shaun David Gould - When You Came
I really like when the piano comes in and the gentle touch of reverb.
A little birdie told me about her friend Shaun who makes lovely tunes. So I figure ok I’ll give it a listen. What I came to hear was carefully crafted songs that will put your mind at ease. When I was done listening to this track I got really excited to share it with you.
While it’s been rather cliche to say someone sounds likes like the Fleet Foxes, I feel that Shaun’s voice is one of the closests to Robin Pecknold’s. Another prime example of this is his song “You’re Still a Child”.

Wanda Jackson & Jack White - Thunder on the Mountain
She’s still the Queen!
from her new album The Party Ain’t Over - out today!
(NPR interview)(Amazon $7.99)(iTunes $9.99)
I love this man, video to follow.
“Girls don’t sell records.” That’s what a record exec told Wanda Jackson back in the 1950s. He was wrong. While dating and touring with a 21-year-old Elvis, the future Hall of Famer mixed rock with country and created the archetype of the chick girls want to be and guys want to be with. Elvis has passed on, but “Jack White reminds me of him,” Wanda says. “When he talks, the room hushes.”
